How to appreciate a N.falcata.

This is can also be a way to find the difference between varieties of N. falcata.

1. The Leaf: N. falcatas have a variety of leaves, for example, how thick, long, wide, curved the leaves are. Also, the pattern and colour of the leaves are different too. Such as some leaves only have one green colour whilst others may have white or yellow too, their patterns could have stripes or tiger markings or no pattern at all.

2. The flower: N. falcatas have usually a white flower, except some have yellow, pink, green or blue. Most flowers have one lip and one spur, however some can have no or three spurs. Mostly all of the flowers have a sweet fragrance. Especially at dawn and dusk the fragrance is very strong.

3. The root tips: N. falcatas, unlike other plants, can be appreciated by their roots. Usually the colours of the root tips are radish-brown but there are roots that have green, ruby tips.

4. The bu (付) : the junction line between the leaf and the central stem. The junction line can be in shapes of a moon, a mountain, wave or a straight line.

5. The tsuke (軸) : the junction between the leaf and the central stem. The junction can be in colours, radish-brown or green.
